About

Narrative Assembly is a storytelling studio that helps people, brands, and organizations share the stories that matter most. We craft narratives that stay true to your values — and reach the communities who matter to you.

Our work spans brand storytelling, internal communications, and editorial strategy, combining journalistic rigor, a collaborative process, and deep respect for the human voice.
Narrative Assembly was founded by Colin Hanner, an editor, writer and journalist who’s helped people, global brands, nonprofits, and educational institutions tell stories with clarity and purpose.

Colin leads every project, drawing on his background in narrative reporting, editorial leadership, and publication development to guide teams through the storytelling process.

Our Approach

Discovery

We start by understanding your goals, your audience, and what matters most. This is where we uncover what story needs to be told — and why.

Gather Insights

Through interviews, research, and deep listening, we surface the details, perspectives, and voices that bring the story to life.

Shape the Story

We turn insights into narrative — crafting a structure, tone, and flow that fits your brand and resonates with the people you want to reach.

Deliver & Measure

We deliver the story with clarity and care — and draw on audience response to help shape what’s next.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Narrative Assembly different from agencies, AI, or other content producers?

We’re not an agency churning out templated copy. We’re not AI generating surface-level summaries. And we’re not here to mimic your voice.

We’re here to help you discover and amplify it.

Narrative Assembly is built on conversation, listening, and collaboration. We bring journalistic rigor, editorial intuition, and a human-first process to every project. Our work isn’t just about filling a blog or hitting a word count — it’s about building trust, revealing impact, and telling stories that feel honest, grounded, and lasting.

We partner closely with our clients, asking thoughtful questions, surfacing the stories that might otherwise go untold, and shaping them with care. The result is connection, not just content.

Who do you work with, and what kinds of stories do you tell?

We work with organizations of all sizes — from global brands to local nonprofits — that want to tell more intentional, human-centered stories. Our clients often come to us when they’re seeking clarity, a stronger voice, or a more thoughtful way to connect with their audiences.

The stories we tell vary, but they all start with listening. We’ve helped teams craft employee and partner features, narratives around company intiatives, longform brand pieces, and executive messaging that reflects their values.

We also support clients in developing voice and tone guides, editorial calendars, and sustainable content systems that align with their mission and scale with their needs.

Do you handle the writing in-house?

Always— all writing, research, interviewing, and editing is done by our core team. When a project calls for photography, design, or layout, we collaborate with trusted creative partners to bring it to life.

How much does it cost? Can we start small?

We offer flat-rate pricing for individual stories and editorial projects, as well as monthly retainers for ongoing work. If you’re just getting started, we’re happy to begin with a single story, a strategy session, or a short-term engagement. It’s a great way to get to know each other and make sure we’re aligned before committing to something larger.

How long does a typical project take?

Most projects take between 2–4 weeks from kickoff to delivery, depending on the scope and number of voices involved. We build in time for collaboration and feedback, and can often move faster when needed. We’ll always be clear about what to expect upfront — no guessing games.
